Tuesday Tunes: Anniversary Dance

One of the traditions we really like that has stayed alive throughout the years is the anniversary dance.  The idea behind this dance is that a song plays and all of the married couples start to dance.  As the song goes along the DJ or band calls out years like 1, 5, 10, 15, and the couples that have been married for that long stay dancing, and the others slowly fall away.  The object is that at the end of the song, the couple who has been married the longest is the last one standing so to speak.  Typically the bride will give her bouquet or a smaller bouquet that looks like hers to that couple.

There are many songs that you could choose for an anniversary dance, but we like the sentimental ones.  One of our favorites comes from the TV show Nashville!  It’s called Life that’s Good and is just such a soft, sweet song, it’s easy to dance to for those who are dancing challenged, and easy to sway to for those elderly relatives and family who will most likely be dancing the longest.   And the sentiment of this song is just so sweet.  “two arms around me, heaven to ground me, and a family that always calls me home.  Four wheels to get there, enough love to share, and a sweet, sweet song. At the end of the day, lord I pray, I have a life that’s good.”  Check it out here.
